  • Very slippery when moist, not recommended for steep sloping roofs
  • Can not be tinted, only available in white, tan and grey
  • Not recommended for asphalt shingles

  • For good adhesion use an epoxy primer

  • Smelly during application. Solvent based
  • Silicones are shiny and can look funny on shingles.

LeakMaster’s Opinion

We use Apoc 780 a lot as a moderately priced roof coating where there is not excessive ponding water. We define that as water that does not burn off after 24 hours of no rain. Customers who ‘Do It Themselves’ love its ease of use. We sell a lot of it at our GEO store. If your roof is having trouble standing up to the elements, it’s time for GacoRoof Silicone Roof Coating. GacoRoof offers long-term waterproofing protection in a bright white reflective silicone coating. Until now, the only choice for flat roofs were temporary fixes with acrylics which can erode from the sun and rain in 3 to 5 years. Finally, with GacoRoof, building owners can coat their roofs with the same long-lasting waterproof coating that professional contractors rely upon. This is our top of the line Acrylic coating which we have used as our flag ship product for 8 years. We believe this to be the best acrylic coating on the market. It can also be tinter to many different colors, whereas silicone coatings are much more limited. This is a quality silicone roof coating with 95% solids. Ponding water does not seem to affect it. When it does get mildew growth in the ponding areas it can be cleaned off very easily. We don’t recommend it for shingles because of the high sheen.
